Katie Hunter

Katie brings a multi-disciplinary, child-focused perspective to family law litigation and alternative dispute resolution, holding both a law degree and a Masters of Social Work.

She is a recipient of the annual Nicholas Bala Award for Excellence in Children and Family Law and is co-author with Dr. Bala on a number of articles regarding the topic of children and the law.

Katie's passion for family law — and for keeping current with changes in family law — is reflected by her educational pursuits. She holds a master in social work, is a certified parenting coordinator, and has trained in family therapy.

Her experience, training, and insight make her especially adept at advising on child-related issues and navigating the complex emotional landscapes in divorce and separation. She appears regularly in the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court of Ontario. She presents at the Mandatory Information Program (MIP) at the Newmarket Court.

Katie was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2016. She earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Queen's University and subsequently earned a Master of Social Work with a Specialization in Children and Their Families from the University of Toronto.
